Bernards Overview

The bedroom suburb of New York City is located in the Raritan Valley region. Bernards was originally formed in 1760 and was named after Sir Francis Bernard who was the governor of the Province of New Jersey. The township borders Far Hills, Bernardsville, Bridgewater, Harding, and Long Hill. Home to several historic sites and museums, Bernards also has historical significance that’s reflected in its architecture. Titled as the number one best place to live in Somerset County by Niche, Bernard features a sparse suburban feel with the majority of its residents owning their properties. The multitude of parks and coffee shops located throughout the suburb paired with low crime and optimal outdoor activity opportunities makes it very attractive to young professionals and families. Bernards has a quieter atmosphere with the majority of dining found in surrounding communities.
